JOB NUMBERS RELEASED FOR MAY - CANADA AND THE U.S.


CANADIAN AND U.S. JOB NUMBERS – MAY, 2013

The Canadian and U.S. job numbers were released this morning.  Here are some of the highlights:

Canada:

  • Canada added 95,000 jobs, mostly in the private sector
  • 51,000 jobs created in the province in Ontario
  • This is a very good indication, although over the last few months there has been a lot of volatility in job creation
  • Unemployment rate drops to 7.1% (down .1%)

United States:

  • The U.S. created 175,000 new jobs which was on target
  • The unemployment rate in the U.S. was 7.6% in May, up .1% from April.
