UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FOR CANADA - APRIL, 2013

The job numbers were released this morning for Canada for April.

Here are the highlights:

- Employment was little changed in April, with the unemployment rate staying at 7.2%
- Employment grew in Alberta, but fell in Manitoba, New Brunswick and Newfoundland/Labrador
- In Ontario, the unemployment rate stayed at 7.7%
- Saskatchewan has the lowest unemployment rate by province at 4%; Newfoundland/Labrador has the highest unemployment rate at 12.4%
- The unemployment rate for youths 15-24 continues to struggle – increasing from 14.2% to 14.5% from March to April
