Our TorontoJobs.ca Recruitment Division client, located in Toronto, practices exclusively in the area of investigative and forensic accounting. The Firm specializes in the quantification of insurance claims, including business interruption, income replacement benefits, inventory losses and employee dishonesty.
Clients include insurance companies, law firms, corporations and individuals.
The Opportunity
As an integral part of their strategic growth plan, they are seeking an accomplished, senior level forensic accountant whose career is focused on insurance loss quantification. The ideal candidate possesses a meaningful client base, strong business development skills and a desire to become a partner in the Firm.
Responsibilities will include:
▪ Liaising with policyholders and their representatives
▪ Analyzing financial information
▪ Performing research
▪ Preparing reports and schedules
▪ Providing timely and regular status updates to clients
▪ Meeting time budgets and deadlines
▪ Staying current with applicable legislative and legal decisions
▪ Preparing engagement proposals, work plans, time budgets and fee estimates
▪ Acquiring, developing and maintaining strong client relationships
▪ Supervising and mentoring junior staff
▪ Reviewing reports and other work prepared by the Firm’s professionals
▪ Performing critiques of reports prepared by opposing experts
▪ Preparing and executing client development initiatives
Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience
▪ Self-motivated and possessing an entrepreneurial flair
▪ Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
▪ 7+ years’ experience in the quantification of commercial insurance claims
▪ Superior attention to detail and accuracy
▪ Excellent professional judgment and ability to problem solve
▪ Ability to understand businesses operating in different industries and the impact of loss events
▪ Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in analyzing industry data and considering non loss-related factors impacting a business, in order to determine the loss due to the incident
▪ Superior report writing skills
▪ Proven business development abilities
▪ Strong interpersonal skills, including communicating in person, e-mail and telephone
▪ Well organized, able to prioritize numerous tasks, and work on multiple assignments simultaneously
▪ Proficient with Excel and Word
▪ Ability to work both independently and also a consummate team player
▪ Ability to meet time budgets and deadlines
▪ Strong commitment to client service
▪ Demonstrated ability to accomplish performance objectives directly and through the effective supervision of subordinate staff
▪ Ability to attract, retain and develop high quality employees
▪ Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates
